Opal glass has a thin layer of white opal flashed on one side of a clear or colored base
glass. This "flash" gives the sheet a semi-transparent or veiled appearance. Opak is similar to Opal, except that the white Opak glass is denser, producing a translucent, but non-transparent sheet of glass.
When looking through a sheet of Opal glass, outlines of objects and light and dark areas are discernable. A sheet of Opak glass on the other hand, will reveal only its color and shading, while nothing beyond
can be seen. |
