VARIEGATED GLASS

When the flashed layer is manipulated by the glass-blower so that it is quite thick in some areas and fades out completely in other areas, a variegated glass results. These variegated sheets may be transparent on transparent or opal on color. Variegated glass will have some areas of smooth gradation and other areas in which change is so abrupt and complete that a dramatic line occurs. These lines are sometimes used to extend other lines and leading in a design.
